Pakistan IT Export Increase 2022 in last 11 Months

According to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication’s data, in March 2022, IT export remittances reached $259 million at a growth rate of 23.92 per cent when compared to $209m reported in March 2021. (Dawn News)

One side we are glad and really pleased on this exception growth in IT sectors. on other side we have to discuss how we achieve it? Is it because of government support or private sector got opportunity to increase their international services.

Last year, the net exports were $1.12bn and this year so far $2.38 bn. However, due to the recent political uncertainty, it is less likely that the country might achieve the target of Rs3.5bn through the IT export remittances. while Private sectors mainly played the vital role in increasing of IT Export. Although there is not public private partnership in IT projects and even government are not working for any international projects. Mainly international market still not start trust on government driven projects.

Either Pakistan IT minister need to sit with private sector and support them or promote the new start up and allow them to showcase their services on international arena. If Pakistan IT Ministry do supported local potential start up and SMEs, and give them complete facilities, it will help to increase in IT industry and more software export as well.

PASHA and PSAB are not support local IT startup and local IT companies, they have only supporting selected companies. There is big gaps between PASHA and Software houses. There is no direction from them. They might not have clear vision for software houses. Local Software houses does not know how to compete with other world and how to showcase their valuable products. There is not opportunities for software houses to participate in IT exhibition specially USA, UK and Canada from government level.

IT Ministry need to revisit on IT Export strategy if local software house or companies can get their support them, this will help to increase Pakistan IT export revenue and remittance.
